the french house

The Languedoc is that part of French Mediterranean coastline which curves round from the Rhone to the Spanish border. It is typically sunny and warm and behind the actual coast it is predominantly countryside, with a rather more laid-back ambience than neighbouring Provence.

The area is very accessible and is served by a number of airports:

Beziers (Vias) 18 miles
Montpellier 46 miles
Carcassonne 68 miles
Perpignan 71 miles
Nimes 76 miles
Toulouse 125 miles

Airlines flying to the area include BA, Aer Lingus, Easyjet, Ryanair and Flybe
canal du midi

The train is also very easy travelling by Eurostar and TGV to Montpellier. A car is really essential in this area, and all the airports and stations host the main car hire-outlets.

By road we are only a few miles from the Beziers junction of the A9 (connecting to the main southbound autoroutes which come via Lyon or Toulouse), and a similar distance from the new A75, a magnificent road cutting right through the centre of France and crossing the dramatic and beautiful Millau Viaduct.
